Americana Country Style

WELCOME HOME
In the guest wing, where Jerry and Susan put up their grown children and grandson Ben, the couple displays one-of-a-kind finds like an old beer sign and a toy horse.

COCKADOODLEDOO
In the dining room, a 19th-century cast iron weather vane depicting a rooster rests atop an English elm blanket chest.

ASSORTED COLLECTIBLES
Their collection of folk art includes this rare two-headed hitching post, an assortment of graphic, cast iron windmill weights, and hand-painted game boards

INDIGO SPONGEWARE
Of the extensive spongeware collection, the darkest indigo pieces are Susan's favorites.

PLENTY OF PITCHERS
Shelves in the family room display blue-and-white spongeware pitchers and dishes dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

HANG IT HERE
Shaker pegs provide an interesting counterpoint to the sleek fixtures in the guest bath.

STAY THE NIGHT
A pair of rope beds stand in the spare guest bedroom. The linens are new from Ralph Lauren Home.

OLD INSPIRES NEW
The poster bed is a new piece and was inspired by Shaker designs and is dressed in new linens. The toboggan standing in the corner is a favorite piece.

BLACK COUNTERPOINT
A Queen Anne table in the front hall faces the staircase, which is original to the house. Jerry and Susan recently painted all the trim in the house-including the front door-black for a crisp modern counterpoint.
